UPCOMING TOURNAMENT
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team is set to open the spring season next week at the Southwest Minnesota State University Spring Invitational, held at Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz. on March 7-8.
LAST TIME OUT
The Mountain Lions last competition was Oct. 18-19 at the Fort Lewis College Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. UCCS finished second out of 14 teams after scoring a 598.
Julia Baroth finished tied for 10th place after carding a 149 (75, 74).
Dakotah Kreil and
Jordyn Allen tied for 13th place overall with a 150. Completing the Mountain Lions' scorers was
Emily Shimkus with a two-day score of 151.

- Temperatures will hover around 70 degrees on Monday and Tuesday. A few stray clouds will be in the area on Monday while Tuesday's outlook is clear with a slight North breeze at 8mph.
HOT TAKES
- UCCS is ranked 10th in the first edition (Feb. 10) of the 2022 NCAA Division II West Regional Ranking. The next regional ranking will be announced on Thursday, March 17.
- In four tournaments during the fall season, the Mountain Lions finished in the top two spots three times, and in the top half of the field in all four tournaments. They went 46-7 (.868) during the fall season.
- UCCS won the season opening tournament – CCU Swan Memorial – on Sept. 13-14, 2021, besting all 20 teams. They finished runner-up in their final two tournaments of the fall season at the CSUP Farmers Insurance Invitational on Oct. 11-12, and the FLC Nick Turner Invitational on Oct. 18-19.
- The Mountain Lions lowest round of the 2021-22 season was a 298 (+10) in the first round of the FLC Nick Turner Invitational on Oct. 18, 2021.
- Julia Baroth posted a two-under par 70 in the third round of the CCU Swan Memorial, the lowest round of any Mountain Lion this year.
2021-22 AWARD WINNERS
- After her stellar performance at the CCU Swan Memorial to open the season, Baroth was named the RMAC Women's Golfer of the Week on Sept. 16. She topped all 108 golfers with a three-round, even-par score of 216 (74, 72, 70) and helped the Mountain Lions win the 19-team tournament.
UCCS UNDER HEAD COACH TODD LAXSON
- After serving as the UCCS Women's Golf Assistant Coach for four years, Todd Laxson was named the UCCS Women's Golf Head Coach in June 2019. He is in his third season at the helm of the Mountain Lions in 2021-22.
- UCCS capped off the 2020-21 season with a second-place finish at the 2021 RMAC Championships. Freshman Emily Shimkus won the individual title after firing off a 67 in the final round to score a 221 for the tournament. As a team, the Mountain Lions carded a 930, just three strokes off from the team champion Westminster College (927). Shimkus and Julia Baroth garnered All-RMAC First Team honors while Dakotah Kreil was named to the Second Team. Baroth was also voted to the RMAC All-Academic First Team as Julia Eaton and Kreil garnered Honor Roll accolades.

- The Mountain Lions will stay close to home for their next tournament as they take the short trip down to Pueblo, Colo. for the Colorado State University Pueblo El Cheapo Classic on March 20-21 at Walking Stick Golf Course.
