PUEBLO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team carded a 635 today at the Colorado State University Pueblo Pack Classic. Originally scheduled to play 18 holes today and 18 holes on Monday at Walking Stick Golf Course, the 36-hole tournament was played entirely today with inclement weather arriving tomorrow. UCCS opened the tournament with a 315 before shooting a 320 in the second round.

FROM THE TEE
- Julia Baroth paced the Mountain Lions with a 153 to finish tied for 11th overall. In the opening round, Baroth drained four birdies and 10 pars. She posted a 34 on the back nine after sinking three birdies to finish the round with a one-over par 73. In the second round, she added seven strokes (80) while hitting par on 11 holes. All four of her birdies on the day came in round one.
- Jordyn Allen carded an 80 in round one followed by a 79 for a 159. After starting the tournament on hole 13 and shooting three-over par, she rebounded to notch three pars and a birdie on her next four holes. Allen had a short memory as she started the second round on hole 13 again, this time starting with a birdie on the par 5 hole. In her first seven holes to start round two, Allen shot two-under par.
- Tied for 39th place with a 161 was Olivia Florence who posted a 79 and 82. She drained a birdie on her second hole of the day (par 5, hole 15) and posted her second birdie of the day in the second round, going one-under on par 3 hole 6.
- One shot behind Florence for 43rd place was Emily Shimkus with a 162 (83, 79). Shimkus notched two birdies in a three-hole span in the opening round and added another birdie for good measure in the second round on hole 1.
- Just outside of scoring for the Mountain Lions was Samantha Saile who posted a 171 to finish 67th overall (84, 87). Competing as individuals were Rachel Penzenstadler and Mackenzie Fontana. Penzenstadler finished tied for 32nd with a 159 (78, 81) while Fontana earned a 71st place finish behind a 175 (85, 90).
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- University of Nebraska-Kearney won the team title with a 31-over par 607 (298, 309). After leading by three strokes after the first round, Colorado Christian University placed second overall with a 610, while Simon Fraser University and CSU Pueblo tied for third place with a 621. CCU's Faith Kilgore bested all 81 golfers with a two-under par 142 (67, 75).
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- The Mountain Lions' 93 pars are tied for the third most in the field. UCCS finished fifth in Par 3 scoring (3.35, +14) and sixth in Par 4 scoring (4.49, +49).
- Jordyn Allen and Rachel Penzenstadler tied for fifth place individually in Par 3s, shooting a 3.13 average.
- Today's team score of 635 for a 36-hole tournament is a season high.
UP NEXT
- The Mountain Lions will travel to the Sunshine State for back-to-back tournaments in April. UCCS will compete in the Western New Mexico University RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Ariz. on April 1-2. They will then head South to Tucson, Ariz. for the West Texas A&M Desert Invite on April 4-5 for their final tournament of the regular season.
