COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Medicine Ashley Klug announced Friday morning the addition of Sam Schaff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at UCCS.

"It is with great pleasure that we have the privilege of adding Sam to our Mountain Lion family," said Klug. "It is unusual to have an athletic trainer with these robust experiences at this point in their career. We are excited for all the support Sam will be able to provide to our student-athletes."

A 2018 graduate from Colorado State University, Schaff makes his way back to his home state after earning his Master of Athletic Training from Texas Tech Health Science Center in May of 2021 and working with the Michigan State University football program as an Athletic Training intern since last June.

"I'm excited to continue my career in my home state of Colorado and wish to provide Mountain Lion Athletics with high-level professional healthcare," stated Schaff. "I hope to assist the betterment of UCCS student-athletes as well as myself!"

In his position with the MSU football team, Schaff was responsible for evaluations, treatments, rehabilitation, and documentation of injuries and illnesses that occurred with football student-athletes. He also worked closely with physicians to administer rehabilitation for post-surgical athletes and gained experience creating and managing inventory of athletic training supplies.

Throughout his undergraduate and graduate studies, Schaff gained athletic training experience with a variety of organizations, including the Colorado State University football team, the Texas Tech University football, men's basketball, track & field and cross country teams, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Schaff will begin his role as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at UCCS on April 1, 2022.
