Emily Shimkus posted a top-25 finish at the highly competitive West Regional Preview, hosted by Dallas Baptist University. Shimkus finished tied for 24
th place with a 226. As a team, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team finished 16
th overall with a 965. The three-round, 16-team tournament was played at the Golf Club of Dallas in Dallas, Texas.

FROM THE TEE
- Shimkus, who started today on hole No. 12, posted a two-under par in her first seven holes behind birdies on holes 13 and 18. She added two more birdies on holes 2 and 10 to finish the day at an even par 72. Shimkus hit three of her four pars today on the back nine with a two-under par 34.
- Finishing within eight strokes of each other were Olivia Florence (242), Rachel Penzenstadler (251) and Kaya Kshatriya (252).
- Florence finished the tournament in a tie for 74th place after carding an 82. She posted her second birdie of the tournament on hole No. 9 (par 5) while adding eight pars in the final round.
- Just one stroke separated Penzenstadler (81st place) and Kshatriya (tied-82nd place). For the second straight round, Penzenstadler sank two birdies after dropping them in on No. 9 and No. 13. Kshatriya hit par on her final four holes of the day to score an 87 today.
- Samantha Saile improved by nine strokes compared to yesterday's first round, shooting an 82 today to place 86th overall with a 259.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- Host team DBU held onto their 16-team lead from Monday, besting all teams with a six-under par 858. DBU tallied a 283 today, marking the lowest round of any team in the three-round tournament.
- Individual medalist honors went to DBU's Julia Garcia. Garcia carded a six-under par 210, one stroke ahead of runner-up Brady Turnquist of Biola (211).
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- Shimkus led the Mountain Lions for the second straight tournament. She notched a team high 34 pars and six birdies in the three rounds.
- Today's round of 72 by Shimkus is the lowest round recorded by a Mountain Lion this season.
- As a team, UCCS hit 130 pars and 17 birdies.
- Shimkus (72), Florence (82), Penzenstadler (80) and Saile (82) each shot their lowest round of the tournament today.
- The West Regional Preview featured four Top-25 teams: No. 1 Dallas Baptist, No. 10 West Texas A&M, No. 19 St. Mary's University, and No. 25 Oklahoma Christian University. Seven more teams are also receiving votes in the WGCA Division II poll.
