SPEARFISH, S.D. – UCCS Women's Soccer ended their conference road trip in dominating fashion on Sunday after a four-goal performance from sophomore
Jadyn LeDoux helped fuel a 5-0 shutout victory over Black Hills State University.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: UCCS 5, BHSU 0
Records: UCCS (7-2-3, 4-1-1 RMAC), BHSU (1-7-2, 1-5 RMAC)
Location: Ronnie Theisz Field | Spearfish, S.D.
Series: UCCS owns an undefeated 7-0 record against the Yellow Jackets and have a shutout BHSU in four straight matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The first half belonged to the Mountain Lions who commanded the Yellow Jackets' side of the pitch with
Kelsey Takahashi registering four of the team's six shots and three of the four shots on goal through the opening 37 minutes of play.
• Possession remained in favor of the Mountain Lions as the contest approached the 38
th minute with UCCS ultimately breaking the scoreless tie off a
Fabiola Estrada cross from the near corner that
Jadyn LeDoux found in stride for the 1-0 lead.
• UCCS quickly found their rhythm after claiming the 1-0 advantage as a caused turnover from the Mountain Lions led to
Jessica Rockwell providing a through ball in the center of the box that LeDoux was once again on the receiving end of and found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead at the 39:33 mark.
• Coming out of the intermission, the Mountain Lions maintained a full head of steam at the BHSU backline with
Gabriella Lancaster firing off a left-footed laser from atop the box that rattled the top woodwork in the 46
th minute. As the Lancaster shot worked its way back down, it was none other than LeDoux who put herself into position to gather and place the ball back into frame for the hat trick and commanding 3-0 lead at 46:50.
• With a hat trick already in hand for the sophomore, LeDoux was nowhere close to being finished as a deep pass from midfield settled at the feet of LeDoux who took on the keeper 1v1 and came out on top with a quick shift to the right side of the box, leaving an open shot that LeDoux buried in the 60th minute.
• Just 30 seconds later, UCCS once again put themselves into scoring position as a deep free kick from the opposite side of the field resulted in a 50-50 ball that worked closer to BHSU's goal where true freshman
Emily Aguilar fielded the ball and chipped over the keeper for the extended Mountain Lion lead, 5-0.
• After holding the Yellow Jackets scoreless and to two shots in the first half, the Mountain Lion backline upped their pressure by allowing only one shot in the closing 45 minutes with no shots on goal allowed in the half to preserve the 5-0 shutout win.
