COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- In the Mountain Lions first tournament of the season, redshirt-senior Julia Baroth (Denver, Colo.) won the individual title and helped UCCS defend their team title from last year at the 2021 CCU Swan Memorial.  Baroth bested all 108 golfers with a three-round, even-par score of 216 (74, 72, 70) to earn the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honor, announced today by the league office.

Baroth led the field in birdies (11) and shared the lead in Par 3 scoring (3.08), Par 4 scoring (4.07), and was tied for second in Par 5 scoring (4.75), while making the fourth most pars in the tournament (33).  In the final round of the tournament on Tuesday, Baroth sank five birdies, three of which came on the back nine.  Her third round score of 70 was the second lowest round of anyone in the tournament as she won with an eight-stroke cushion over second place.

As a team, UCCS won the 19-team tournament, owning a three-round score of 924 (312, 302, 311).

UCCS will return to the links for back-to-back tournaments in October.  The Mountain Lions will travel to South Jordan, Utah for the Westminster College Wasatch Invitational Oct. 8-9, before heading back to Colorado for the Colorado State University Pueblo Farmers Insurance Proal Invite on Oct. 11-12, held at the Pueblo Country Club.
