COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team extends their win streak to 11 games as the Mountain Lions take down Colorado School of Mines 14-6 under the lights at Darden Field on Friday night.

Final: UCCS 14, CSM 6
Records: UCCS (24-7, 20-7 RMAC), Colo. School of Mines (7-18, 7-18 RMAC)
Location: Darden Field | Golden, Colo.
All-Time Series: UCCS trails in the all-time series against CSM with a 7-9 record but currently holds a three-game win streak against the Orediggers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Mountain Lions' offense has been red hot and Friday night was no different as UCCS plated three runs in the top of the first by way of a Matt McDermott double and Jake Anderson two-run homer.
• Colorado School of Mines came back in the bottom half of the first to cut the deficit down to one as redshirt junior Jonathan Cowles' night turned into a quick outing. The Orediggers brought in two runs off five hits with Cowles exiting the game after closing out the first inning.
• In the third inning, the scoring resumed for the Mountain Lions with Ryan Schmidt knocking in the first run of the inning off an RBI single. Schmidt's single resulted in two runners still on base as Matt Berg stepped up next to clear the bases with a three-run home run and give the Mountain Lions a 7-2 lead.
• Redshirt junior Hayden Salverda entered the game to take over for Cowles in the second inning where he threw a scoreless second then allowed one in the third as a Keene Tanaka double down the right field line put one on the board for the Orediggers, still leaving UCCS with the 7-3 advantage through three innings.
• The Mountain Lion bats would not be silenced with UCCS proceeding to plate five runs in the next two innings. An Evan Richards' double and McDermott groundout brought in two runs in the fourth as redshirt sophomore Kiichi Sato went yard for three RBI and the third homer of the game in the fifth inning to lift UCCS to a 12-3 lead.
• Salverda went on to record another scoreless inning in the fourth to end his day on the mound as freshman Dylan Grierson entered in the fifth inning. Grierson fanned two batters and held CSM without a run through the sixth inning to record three consecutive innings of scoreless baseball as the Mountain Lions maintained the 12-3 lead heading into the seventh.
• Both Schmidt and Richards tallied their second RBI of the game in the top half of the seventh as an RBI single from Schmidt and sacrifice fly from Richards increased the UCCS lead, 14-3.
• Down 11 runs, CSM tried to work their way back into the ballgame by brining one across in the seventh and two across in the eighth, but Joseph Harris stopped the Orediggers in their tracks to hold on to the 14-6 win.
