COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team completed the Tuesday sweep after a strong offensive day at the plate led to a pair of conference wins over Regis University inside Mountain Lion Park.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

All-Time Series: UCCS leads the all-time series with a 14-6 record against Regis. The Mountain Lions currently hold a four-game win streak against the Rangers.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE:
• The Rangers got after UCCS starting pitcher
Daniel Silva early in the game as three straight hits started the game to bring in two runs and give Regis the 2-0 lead in the top half of the first.
• UCCS answered back with two runs of their own in the home half of the first with
Evan Richards driving in his first run of the game off an RBI double as a sacrifice fly from
Jake Anderson brought in the tying run at 2-2.
• After giving up two runs in the first inning, Silva threw the next five innings of his start scoreless and went on to allow juts four hits for the reminder of the game.
• As Silva and the Mountain Lions' defense shutout the Rangers, the UCCS offense warmed up their bats by posting eight runs in the next four innings. The top of the lineup in leadoff hitter
Kiichi Sato and two-hole hitter
Evan Richards generated the next six runs. Sato registered an RBI single in the second, fourth, and fifth inning while Richards lined a triple in the right center gap for an RBI in the second inning and drove a deep flyball to right field in the fourth inning for a two-run home run to come out with the 8-2 lead through five innings.
• With the 8-2 lead in hand, Silva breezed through the Ranger lineup in the sixth by coming away with a strikeout and forcing two pop-ups to end his day on the bump.
• The Mountain Lion scoring continued as catcher
Ryan Schmidt registered two RBI in the later innings as he notched an RBI double in the sixth and sacrifice fly in the eighth to finish the day 1-for-3.

Jaeden Hegmann added one of his three hits in the game during the sixth inning by roping an RBI single to center field while the pinch hitting
Henry Ryan recorded his fourth hit and RBI on the season by finding an RBI double in the left center gap to bring the final score to 12-2.
STATS FROM GAME ONE
•
Daniel Silva moves to an impressive 6-2 on the season after going six complete innings while allowing two earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
•
Brian Marquez pitched effectively in his relief outing by allowing only one hit while striking out four Rangers in three complete innings to bag his second save of the season.
•
Kiichi Sato finished with a game high four hits after going 4-for-5 with three RBI.
•
Evan Richards turned in a 3-for-5 day with a game high four RBI including a triple, double, and home run.
•
Jaeden Hegmann also had a 3-for-5 day after tallying one RBI off a double and a triple.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME TWO:
• In game two, it was all the UCCS Mountain Lions as the offensive exploded for a 19-run win over the Rangers.
• UCCS carried their shutout baseball from the first game into game two by holding Regis scoreless through five innings to register 13 consecutive innings of shutout baseball on the day.

Christian Manmano started on the bump and pitched lights out as he allowed only three hits in five full innings of work.
• Similar to game one, the Mountain Lions' offense took care of business but stepped it up another notch in game two by scoring six runs in three different innings.

Jake Anderson got the scoring started in the first inning as a sacrifice fly to center field brought
Evan Richards across for the first score of the game.
• After the first inning, the offense ensued as a
Michael Bennin RBI double followed by a two-run
Walker Rumsey home run and three-run
Matt McDermott home run quickly made it 7-0 after two innings.
• The fourth inning saw the game's second six-run inning as Anderson and McDermott made another RBI appearance by hitting a pair of doubles. But the remaining four runs were credited to Bennin as the starting catcher went big fly to left field for a grand slam and 13-0 lead.
• The Rangers were able to bring two across in the sixth inning but that deficit was quickly erased as the Mountain Lions garnered six runs in the home half of the sixth to capture a 17-run lead. Anderson brought the first run around with a loud RBI triple as the cleanup hitter banged a deep flyball off the batter's eye in center field. The next five runs came from non-starters as freshman
Dylan Morace sent his second home run of the season over the left field wall for three RBI. Then with a pair of RBI singles from
Nate Heflebower and
Zac Dammel, the Mountain Lions garnered their 19 runs nad sealed the game for the Tuesday sweep.
STATS FROM GAME TWO
• UCCS registered 16 hits in the ballgame including five doubles, one triple, and four home runs.
• The Mountain Lions outhit the Rangers 16-5 in the ballgame as 11 different Mountain Lions tallied a hit.

Matt McDermott recorded a perfect 3-for-3 in game two with three runs scored and four RBI off a double and home run.
•
Michael Bennin had a career day with five RBI after finishing 2-for-3 with a double and grand slam.
•
Jake Anderson and
Dylan Morace both registered three RBI with Anderson turning in a 2-for-3 day which inclided a triple and double as Morace went 1-for-1 with a three-run homer.
•
Christian Manmano stays perfect on the season as he moves to 3-0 after five full innings of work that included four strikeouts.

The Mountain Lions will hit the road for a four-game series against Colorado School of Mines this weekend. Game one will be featured under the lights as the Mountain Lions will battle the Orediggers in Golden, Colo. at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 7.
