Mountain Lions Finish in 14th Place at WNMU/RJGA Palm Valley Classic

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – In the final round of the Western New Mexico University/RJGA Palm Valley Classic, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team finished 14th overall.  UCCS concluded the two-day tournament on Saturday after shooting a 316 to bring their two round total to 630.

FROM THE TEE
Dakotah Kreil led the Mountain Lions for the second straight day, finishing in 40th place overall.  After an opening round of 76 on Friday, Kreil carded a 79 on Saturday to finish with a 155. She strung together 10 pars over an 11-hole stretch.
 
Emily Shimkus and Regina Dillon came in second for UCCS and finished in a tie for 54th overall behind a 158.  Shimkus, who carded seven pars on the front nine and seven more on the back nine, improved by four strokes today from yesterday's round (81, 77).  Dillon finished the tournament with three birdies after hitting her third one today on hole No. 18 (par 5).
 
Bringing in the final score for the Mountain Lions was Julia Eaton who carded a 159 and finished 59th overall.  Eaton landed 10 pars in today's round of 81.
 
Samantha Saile's 162 (81, 81) landed her in a tie for 82nd place overall.
 
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
Point Loma earned the team title, besting all 20 teams with a six-over par 582 (297, 285).  PL's Nicole Kaminski won the individual title after carding a two-under par 142 (74, 68).

UP NEXT
The Mountain Lions will head South to Tucson, Ariz. for the West Texas Desert Invitational.  The two-day tournament will be held April 5-6 at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon.
