Colorado Springs, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team wins in convincing fashion as they take game one of their series against Adams State University by a final score of 13-5.

All-Time Series: UCCS now leads the all-time series 9-4. The Mountain Lions have won three straight games in the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning, Adams State jumped out to an early lead by putting up three runs in the top of the second inning off four hits and one UCCS error.
- The Mountain Lions would respond in the bottom of the third with five runs of their own off back-to-back RBI hits from Jake Anderson and Jaeden Hegmann, a sacrifice fly from Ryan Schmidt and an RBI single from Nate Heflebower.
- After the second inning, pitcher Daniel Silva settled in and threw three scoreless innings before being pulled. Silva ended the day allowing three runs (one earned) off six hits with four strikeouts.
- UCCS would add two more in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth thanks in part to a two-run home run from Evan Richards.
- The Grizzlies tried to chip away at the UCCS lead by adding two in the sixth, but UCCS would add three more in the bottom of the eighth for good measure to make the final score 13-5.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- UCCS recorded fifteen hits in the game including six doubles, a triple and one home run. The UCCS pitching staff combined for six strikeouts in the game.
- Evan Richards and Aaron Faragallah both tallied three hits in the game to lead UCCS, with Richards adding the team's only home run for the day.
- Jake Anderson led all players with three RBI in the game while going 1-for-3 with a sac fly.
- Matt Berg notched a triple in the game for his one hit of the afternoon.
- Jaeden Hegmann and Ryan Schmidt both tabbed two hits and two RBI in the game as well.
UP NEXT
UCCS is back in action tomorrow for the double-header portion of their series against Adams State. Game one is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. inside Mountain Lions Park, while game two is scheduled for 3 p.m.
