Emily Shimkus fired a four-under par 67 in the final round of the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship Tournament Tuesday afternoon, earning the individual title after compiling a three-round score of 221. She led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team to a RMAC runner-up title after scoring 930. The Mountain Lions shot their lowest round of the tournament today (301), to finish three strokes behind team champion Westminster College (927) and three strokes ahead of third place Colorado Mesa University (933).

Shimkus was on fire today, recording seven birdies and eight pars. After shooting two-over par in her first six holes of the day, she settled in and in her final 12 holes, Shimkus shot a six-under par and posted a back nine score of 31. Shimkus recorded rounds of 79, 75 and 67 to shoot a 221. She finished the tournament with 20 pars and nine birdies. Today's round of 67 ties the school record with
Julia Baroth (March 24, 2019) for the lowest round in school history, and it is the second lowest tournament score behind Baroth's 2018 RMAC Championship score (217).
Dakotah Kreil matched her second-round score of 76 and finished the tournament in a tie for eighth place overall with a 231 (79, 76, 76). Kreil landed two birdies today and tallied five birdies in three rounds. She finished strong on the back nine, carding a 35 with one birdie and seven pars.
Julia Eaton registered a 238 for the tournament after posting scores of 78, 80 and 80. Eaton tied for 17
th place overall and registered 32 pars and two birdies.
Senior
Regina Dillon rounded out the Mountain Lions scorers. Dillon placed in a tie for 23
rd after firing a 240 (84, 78, 78), including four birdies.
Samantha Saile's three-day tournament score of 255 (90, 82, 83) landed her in a tie for 45
th place.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
Westminster wrapped up the tournament with the lowest round of any team in the last three days, shooting a 299. The championship title is their first ever in program history. Shimkus' RMAC individual title is the second in school history (
Julia Baroth, 2018).
