GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team opened the Western New Mexico University/RJGA Palm Valley Classic on Friday shooting a 314. The Mountain Lions are tied with Chadron State College for 12
th place overall.

The Mountain Lions are led by
Dakotah Kreil's opening round of 76, placing her in a tie for 24
th overall. Kreil knocked in two birdies on holes No. 11 (par 5) and No. 16 (par 4) while adding six pars on the back nine.
Julia Eaton is two strokes behind Kreil and tied for 39
th place (78). Eaton performed well on the back nine, starting at hole No. 10 with a birdie. In the first six holes on the back nine, Kreil registered a birdie and four pars.
Regina Dillon is on Eaton's heels with a 79 (tied 52
nd). Dillon also registered two birdies today on holes No. 5 (par 4) and No. 17 (par 3).
Emily Shimkus and
Samantha Saile are tied for 76
th place with an 81. Shimkus tallied two birdies while Saile hit five of her nine pars on the front nine.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
Texas-Tyler leads the 20-team tournament with a 294. The individual leader, Raelynn Hardgrave of Texas-Tyler, leads all 107 golfers with a 3-under par 69.
