Women’s Golf Starts Spring Season at SMU Rattler Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team opened their spring season Monday at the St. Mary's Rattler Invitational, held in San Antonio, Texas.  The Mountain Lions are in eighth place after round one with a 332.

FROM THE TEE
Julia Baroth and Regina Dillon are tied for 19th place overall to lead the Mountain Lions.  Both golfers shot an 81 in the first round and combined for 14 pars.  Baroth knocked down back-to-back birdies on hole No. 4 (par 4) and hole No. 5 (par 3), while Dillon carded back-to-back par 4 birdies on hole No. 3 and No. 4.
 
Emily Shimkus is three strokes behind Baroth and Dillon and is tied for 32nd overall.  Six of her eight pars came on the back nine as she also posted a birdie on hole No. 3.
 
Dakotah Kreil carded an 86 in the opening round and is sitting in 45th place after registering a team high nine pars.
 
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
 
St. Mary's leads the 13-team tournament with a 305 (+17).  The Rattlers' Monica Dibildox is the individual leader with a two-stroke advantage over second place (71).

The Rattler Invitational will wrap up Tuesday beginning with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. (MT).
