PUEBLO, Colo. – Playing their fourth round of golf in five days, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team finished in a tie for second place Tuesday afternoon at the Colorado State University Pueblo Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational, held at the Pueblo Country Club. UCCS shot a second-round score of 308 to tie with Metropolitan State University Denver for second place overall with a 607.

- Emily Shimkus paced the Mountains Lions in the 36-hole tournament. After opening Monday's action with a 71, Shimkus finished in fourth place overall with a two-day score of 147 (71, 76) that featured three birdies and 28 pars.
- Julia Baroth took two strokes off from Monday's round to finish fifth overall with a 148. Baroth knocked in three birdies on her way to a 73 today. Two of her three birdies came on the front nine while shooting a 36 on the back nine. In two rounds, Baroth tallied seven brides and shot par or better on 26 holes.
- Tying for 10th place for the Mountain Lions was Rachel Penzenstadler with a score of 152 (75, 77). Penzenstadler notched four straight pars on the back nine after shooting par or better on holes No.4-8, including a birdie on par 3 hole No. 6.
- Chipping in three birdies today was Jordyn Allen. Allen carded an 82 to bring her two-day total to 160 as she finished in a tie for 27th place.
- Dakotah Kreil matched Monday's score of 82 with an 82 today behind 10 pars, eight of which came on the back nine. Kreil finished in a tie for 34th place with a 164.
- Representing the Mountain Lions as individuals were Olivia Florence who finished in a tie for 27th place with a 160 (80, 80), Samantha Saile with a 163 (tied-31st) and Mackenzie Fontana. Fontana improved by eight strokes from yesterday's round to place 47th overall with a 180 (94, 86).
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- Host team CSU Pueblo leap-frogged the Mountain Lions after the opening round to win the team title with a 604, just three strokes ahead of UCCS.
- Thitapha Iamtragul of Dodge City Community College was the individual leader in a field of 50 golfers after carding a 145 (72, 73).
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- UCCS tallied 17 birdies in the two-round tournament.
- The Mountain Lions led the field in pars (103) and finished second in par 4 scoring (4.38 average) and par 5 scoring (4.96 average).
- Shimkus led all golfers with 28 pars while Penzenstadler knocked in the second most pars with 24. Baroth tied two other golfers for the most birdies (seven).

- UCCS will conclude the fall portion of their schedule Oct. 181-9 at the Fort Lewis College Nick Turner Invitational, held in Albuquerque, N.M. at the Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course.
