PUEBLO, Colo. – In their final tournament of the fall season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team landed three golfers in the top 10 of the Colorado State University Pueblo Farmers Insurance Sam Proal Invitational. As a team, the Mountain Lions finished in a tie for third place with Colorado Christian University after carding a two round total 632.

Emily Shimkus each finished in the top 10 of the tournament field. UCCS started the tournament on Monday shooting a 321 but saved 10 strokes in today's round to post a 311.

Dakotah Kreil (Gilbert, Ariz.) led the Mountain Lions with a fifth place finish (tied) after shooting back-to-back rounds of 76 (152). Kreil logged the only eagle of the tournament when she posted one on hole No. 12 (par 5).
Julia Baroth (Denver, Colo.) closed out the tournament with a 154 (74, 80) to finish seventh overall. Baroth stringed together nine straight holes of making par in the final round. She tallied a tournament high 26 pars.
Also finishing in the top 10 was
Emily Shimkus (Cave Cree, Ariz.) who improved by eight strokes on Tuesday. Shimkus landed 10
th overall (158), recording a 75 today behind two birdies and 13 pars.
Julia Eaton's (Fishers, Ind.) 168 placed her in the top four of UCCS scorers and in a tie for 30
th overall. Eaton also improved by eight strokes on Tuesday, shooting an 80 in the final round.
Cheryl Gauthier (Liberty Hill, Texas) recorded a two-day total 180 to tie for 47
th place. She notched 11 pars in the two rounds and shot a birdie in each round.
Samantha Saile (Barrington, Ill.), who competed as an individual, shot four strokes better on Tuesday (80) and closed the tournament in a tie for 23
rd place (164).
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
Westminster College started the final round in third place but won the team title after shooting a 306 today, nine strokes better than Monday's 315 performance (621 total). They bested Colorado Mesa University by two strokes to win the 10-team tournament.
Faith Kilgore of CCU maintained her individual lead to top all 57 competitors with a 146 (73, 73).
UP NEXT
The CSUP Farmers Insurance Invitational marked the final tournament for the fall season. UCCS will be back in action in Spring 2021.
