CARLSBAD, Calif. – Competing in their final tournament of the fall season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team shaved off 18 strokes in the second round of the CSU San Marcos West Region Preview. They opened the tournament on Monday with a 343 but lightened their total today in round two with a 325. UCCS placed 16
th overall with a combined score of 668.
All five Mountain Lions either improved their score in round two or recorded the same score as Monday.
Regina Dillon led the Mountain Lions with a 51
st place finish. Dillon improved by seven strokes today to card a 163 for the tournament (85, 78). Behind two birdies,
Julia Baroth saw the second-best improvement on the team with a 167. Baroth tallied an 88 on Monday but shaved off nine strokes in the second round.
One stroke behind Baroth was Eaton who tied for 67
th place after today's round of 83 (85, 83).
Dakotah Kreil mirrored Monday's round of 85, while
Brianna Vetter saw a 10-stroke improvement to place 88
th overall with a 194 (102, 92).
The 17-team tournament was won by host team Cal State San Marcos. CSU San Marcos posted a 594 to win the title by 10 strokes over West Texas A&M. Simon Fraser's Emily Leung held on to her lead from Monday to win the individual title with a 142.
