HURRICANE, Utah – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team improved by 13 strokes in Tuesday's final round of the Dixie State University Invitational, held at Sand Hollow Golf Course in Hurricane, Utah. The Mountain Lions, who opened the tournament on Monday with a 327, carded a 314 in the second and final round today to finish with a 641 and an 11
th overall finish.
Cal State San Marcos won the 14-team tournament after recording a 582. Chisay Arai of Holy Names University is the individual medalist after shooting a three-under par 141.
Sophomore
Dakotah Kreil led UCCS for the second straight tournament, closing out the DSU Invitational with a 156 and a tie for 30
th place overall. Kreil, who opened the tournament yesterday with an 81, sank both of her birdies on holes No. 2 and No. 4 while shooting par 12 times today to improve by six strokes.
Julia Baroth closed out the tournament with four birdies in the two rounds and was one stroke behind Kreil for a 36
th place finish (76, 81).
Julia Eaton saved six strokes from Monday's round and added two birdies today on holes No. 5 and No. 15 to card a 164 (85, 79) and finish 52
nd.
Rounding out the Mountain Lion scorer's is
Regina Dillon. Dillon sank back-to-back birdies on holes No. 7 and No. 8 today and made the biggest jump on the team by saving seven strokes to close out the tournament with a 164 (85, 79).
Placing fifth for UCCS and 73
rd overall was
Brianna Vetter. Vetter shot an 85 on Monday and a 96 today to post a 181 score.
The Mountain Lions will be back in action in three weeks when they wrap up the fall season Oct. 21-22 at the CSU San Marcos West Region Preview.
