THIS WEEK
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (2-1-1, 0-0 RMAC) enters conference play this week. It's homecoming weekend and UCCS has two home games scheduled. The first being on Friday against Colorado State Pueblo (a rematch of last year's RMAC Tournament Final) at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday against New Mexico Highlands at 2:30 p.m.

SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
CSU-Pueblo enters league play undefeated in four games (3-0-1, 0-0 RMAC). Coming into this week, CSU-Pueblo enters the USC Top 25 National Poll for the second time in program history as No. 23. In their previous game against Fort Hays, the Thunderwolves left with a 2-2 tie after a second overtime period. Goals from seniors Hannah Andresen and Mackenzie Bean put CSU up for the time being until Fort Hays equalized.

SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
A string of three losses looms with NMHU, as they prepare for RMAC play. Their last match ended in a 1-0 defeat to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. The Cowgirls out-shot their opponents 12-7 but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

LEADERS IN THE RMAC
Offensively the Mountain Lions place two athletes among the RMAC top ten. Tarah Patterson ranks seventh with three shots per game and ninth with two goals on the young season. Another Mountain Lion, Tori Maydew has also scored twice placing her tenth on the scoring list.

SEASON SNAPSHOT
With a 2-1-1 record and a total of 380 minutes played, the Mountain Lions have played with a lead in 33 out of the 380 total minutes. UCCS has held the advantage over their opponents by outscoring them 5-1 in the second half with 32 shots, compared to their opponents' 10 shots.

LAST TIME OUT
This past week, UCCS finished up non-conference play with a 3-1 win over Fort Hays. The victory came on the heels of an explosive second half performance. The game remained tied 0-0 at the half even though the Mountain Lions outshot their opponents 9 to 0. In the second half, UCCS came out firing again but were unable to strike through. FHSU broke through first thanks to a touch by Cailey Perkins. In attempt to get the goal back, the Mountain Lions pushed numbers forward and kept FHSU on their heels. The breakthrough came in the 75th minute by Tarah Patterson. She added another off a penalty kick and teammate Caitlin Esterle fired home the third.

UP NEXT
UCCS continues a streak of home games next week, as conference play continues. Western State visits on Friday, Sep. 21 at 6 p.m. and Colorado Mesa makes the trip for a game at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sep. 23.
