Mountain Lions Return to Gallogly with Nine-Game Home Win Streak

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team will put the longest active home winning streak in the RMAC on the line when a four-game home stretch starts on Friday against Westminster (7-4, 4-3 RMAC) and on Saturday against Colorado Mesa (8-5, 4-3 RMAC). Both games will start at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday's game will be broadcast regionally on Comcast Entertainment Television.

The Mountain Lions have won their last nine home games, matching Fort Lewis' current nine-game home winning streak. The last visiting team to win in the Gallogly Events Center was Colorado Mesa on Jan. 10, 2015, but the Mountain Lions have won the last two games against the Mavericks, including the RMAC Quarterfinal game hosted by UCCS on March 3, 2015.

UCCS went 2-0 against both Westminster and Colorado Mesa on the road in December and won by double-digit margins in both games. The Mavericks are on a four-game winning streak and have scored more than 80 points in three of those games. Westminster has fallen in its last three games after a 7-0 start to the season.

Dalton Patten earned RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors during the first Colorado Mesa/Westminster weekend. He scored 28 points against the Mavericks and 19 points against the Griffins. He went 11-of-14 from the field and three-of-three at the three-point line. UCCS never trailed in either game.

Westminster has one of the top defenses in the RMAC this season. The Griffins are second in the conference in holding opponents to 69.2 points per game and 41.7 percent from the field. Westminster is averaging 3.4 blocked shots per game. Zerrion Payton is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game and is one of three Griffins averaging at least five rebounds per game. Casey Evans leads a balanced scoring effort with 13.3 points per game as one of four student-athletes with at least 10 or more points per game.

Colorado Mesa is led by Ryan Stephan, who was the Division II Bulletin National Player of the Month in December and has collected four of the seven RMAC Offensive Player of the Week awards this season. He is the only student-athlete in the RMAC averaging a double-double and leads the conference with 25.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game this season.

Free live video, audio and stats will be available for fans unable to attend the game in person through Stretch Internet. Southern Colorado Basketball players and their families will receive free admission for both games this weekend and Colorado Wildland Fire and Incident Management Academy attendees on campus will receive free admission for Saturday's game with their academy credential.
