COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team will be back on the road for the sixth time in nine weekends this season for a four-game series at No. 25 Metropolitan State University of Denver. The series begins with a doubleheader at noon on Saturday at the Regency Athletic Complex.
UCCS (14-17 / 12-14 RMAC) is playing at Metro State for the first time in the conference season since the start of the 2012 season. The Mountain Lions played the Roadrunners in non-conference action at the start of the 2013 season, but are playing for the first time at the new Regency Athletic Complex. The complex opened for softball for the first time this season.
Emily Jennings moved into No. 10 in the UCCS career hits records with six hits last weekend against Colorado Christian and Western New Mexico. She has 173 hits in her career and needs eight to tie Sarah Cleland's mark of 181 hits from 2005-08. Jennings is leading the Mountain Lions with a .390 batting average.
Dani Fonseca leads the RMAC with 12 home runs and a .779 slugging percentage. She had three home runs last weekend, but had a program-record 24-game hitting streak end on April 4. It was only the third hitting streak longer than 20 games in program history.
