GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior Alyssa Gutierrez of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team has been voted to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Softball Academic All-America Second Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday morning.

The 2026 Academic All-America® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Gutierrez's selection to the 2026 CSC Academic All-America® Softball Second Team adds another prestigious honor to an already impressive list of academic accolades for the senior outfielder after she also received RMAC All-Academic First Team and CSC Academic All-District recognition last month. Gutierrez, who graduated from UCCS with her Bachelor of Arts in Inclusive Elementary Education last fall and began pursuing her Master of Arts in Special Education this spring, enjoyed a breakout season on the diamond during the 2026 campaign as she collected All-RMAC Second Team honors while leading the team in triples (6) and ranking second on the squad in batting average (.433), hits (68), runs (50), on-base percentage (.465), and stolen bases (32) across 54 games played. An RMAC Gold Glove honoree in the outfield, the Castle Rock, Colo., native was flawless on the defensive side of the ball as she posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with zero errors in 70 total chances while recording 69 putouts and one outfield assist. Across 140 games played in her three-year career at UCCS, Gutierrez notched a .327 batting average with 117 hits, 10 doubles, nine triples, 40 RBIs and 54 stolen bases.

Gutierrez becomes just the fourth student-athlete in UCCS softball program history to earn CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-America accolades, joining Crystal Krebs (2005 – First Team), Stacey Haney (2008 – Second Team), and Whitney Weber (2018 – Second Team).

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
