Darius Pardner became the ninth Mountain Lion to surpass 1,000 career points with a nine-point performance tonight and
Dalton Patten led No. 18 University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a career-high 27 points as the Mountain Lions (23-4 / 17-4 RMAC) in a 76-57 win against Regis (5-20 / 3-18 RMAC) at the Regis Fieldhouse. The win secured a home game in the RMAC Quarterfinals for the Mountain Lions on Tuesday night in the Gallogly Events Center.
Patten went nine-of-10 from the field and from the free throw line to lead both teams. He surpassed his previous high of 24 points against Colorado Christian on Jan. 18, 2014.
Regis scored the first seven points of the game and maintained the lead until the Mountain Lions scored six straight points for a 17-14 advantage with 11 minutes, 33 seconds left in the first half. UCCS assembled a 14-point rally near the end of the half to lead 38-29 at the break.
The Rangers put together a 10-point run to cut the Mountain Lion lead down to seven points at 51-44 with 10:57 to play. After the under-10 media timeout, UCCS scored the next five points and held a double-digit advantage for the rest of the game to earn the season sweep against the Rangers.
Alex Welsh added 13 points and led the Mountain Lions with seven rebounds.
Derrick White scored 10 points with six steals, six assists and two blocked shots. UCCS shot 56 percent from the field in its best shooting performance since Jan. 30, against Western New Mexico.
The Mountain Lions will finish the regular season tomorrow night in a 7 p.m., game at No. 14 MSU Denver. The Roadrunners (23-4 / 18-3 RMAC) defeated Colorado State-Pueblo 83-60 tonight in the Auraria Event Center.
