Alex Darwin improved 18 positions with a 74 and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team took 10 strokes off of yesterday's round to finish in a tie for sixth at the second RMAC event of the season at Bookcliff Country Club.
Darwin matched her season-best score in today's round and tied for the best round of the 99 golfers on the course today. She finished in a tie for No. 10 in her second top-10 finish in four tournaments this season. Darwin's 36-hole score of 157 was her second-best of the season.
Michelle Romano jumped up 19 spots with a 78 today in an eight-stroke improvement from yesterday. She tied for No. 26 overall with a 164 and made the fourth-largest improvement in the tournament.
Amanda Crites lowered her score by two strokes to an 82 and
Raquell Castillo cut eight strokes from yesterday for an 83 to round out the scorecards that counted in the UCCS team score today. The Mountain Lions finished with a 320 for 32-over par in the fourth-best round of the season.
This week's RMAC event marked the end of the record-setting fall season for the Mountain Lions. UCCS turned in the best round in program history last Tuesday with a 305 for 17-over at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate, and Romano recorded a 73 in the same round for the best individual performance in program history. The Mountain Lions will have the opportunity to lower the records further when the spring season starts in March 2015.
