Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs hit .325 in the first set and continued the momentum to win the 2014 home-opener in three sets against Lindenwood today in the Steel & Silver Classic. The Mountain Lions (1-4) won 25-18, 25-21 and 26-24.
Kim Catlett led the offense for the fourth straight time with 13 kills and added 10 digs.
Lauren Hahn added another 12 kills. The offensive output was combined with their fewest errors in both attacking and serving this season.
UCCS opened an early 7-3 lead in the first set, helped by four kills from four different Mountain Lions in the rally. The Mountain Lions led from start to finish in the set, and committed only three hitting errors, in the 25-18 win to open the match.
A kill from Hahn sparked a five-point rally early in the second set to put UCCS ahead 7-4. After the team exchanged points to put the set at 8-5, Lindenwood capitalized  on Mountain Lion errors to put together an 8-2 run and take a 13-10 lead. Each team continued to go back and forth with rallies through 21-21, and UCCS went on the final rally on the set to take a 2-0 match lead on a 25-21 victory.
The Mountain Lions led 20-17 in the third set with nine of the points coming off of kills before Lindenwood rallied and held set point at 24-23. UCCS closed out the set and the match with kills from Catlett, Hahn and Palmer, respectively, for the first win of the 2014 season in three sets.
The Mountain Lions will face Pittsburg State at 7 p.m., tonight, to close out the first day of the Steel & Silver Classic. The Gorillas defeated Saint Martin's in the first match of the day in five sets.
