Box ScorePUEBLO, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team continued its improvement in the inaugural season with the best tournament score of the season in a sixth-place finish at the Colorado State-Pueblo Wolf Pack Invitational. The Mountain Lions matched their season-best team score of 327 from yesterday for 47-over par for the second straight round.
Amanda Crites led UCCS for the first time this season and tied for No. 14 with a 161 (79-82) for 21 strokes over par. She shot par on eight of the holes in today's round and had the third-best score for the Mountain Lions in the round.
Laura Gritz led UCCS in the second round with a 79 for a six-stroke improvement. She birdied hole 14 and shot four strokes better on the front 9 today. She finished in a tie for No. 20 overall with a 164 (85-79).
Raquell Castillo recorded her best round of the season with an 80 in today's round for the second-best Mountain Lion score today. She made a five-stroke improvement from yesterday's round, and made the entire improvement on the back 9 at the Elmwood Golf Course. Her 80 ranks as sixth best round for the Mountain Lions in the spring schedule and her 165 combined tournament score tied her for No. 22 overall.
Jamie Zook's 86 today provided the final team score for the Mountain Lions in the second round. Zook matched her best tournament of the spring with 24 strokes over par and finished in No. 27 with a 36-hole score of 168.
The Mountain Lions will take their best tournament of the season into their first RMAC tournament next week. Action will take place April 21-22 at the Wigwam in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
