Mountain Lions Finish Homestand Against Metro State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs will have its six game homestand come to a close when they face Metro State on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The Mountain Lions are off to their best start in program history at 5-0 (1-0 conference) and also won their RMAC opener for the first time in program history with their 2-0 defeat of New Mexico Highlands in which the teams combined for 26 fouls with the Mountain Lions scoring enough with a penalty shot and a beautiful blast.

The Roadrunners are coming off of a tie with Regis on Friday after leading 2-0 and then surrendering two later goals. The Roadrunners are  3-1-1 overall(0-0-1 conference). The Roadrunners will be led on offense by Karisa Price who has scored seven goals and is leading the conference in goal scoring and is tied for first in points in the RMAC and also leads the RMAC in shots taken. The Roadrunners also have Tess Hagenlock who is tied for first in the RMAC in assists with four. The Roadrunners are led on defense by their goalkeeper who is one save behind the Mountain Lions goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder in total saves and is in fourth in the RMAC.

The Mountain Lions won the last meeting between the two teams 3-1. The Mountain Lions are led on offense by Hannah Levett who is fifth in the conference in goals and is in second in assists. The Mountain Lions are led on defense by goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder who is third in the RMACin total saves.  Schroeder is also third in the RMAC save percentage and is also third in the RMAC in goals against average.

The Mountain Lions are the only undefeated team in the RMAC.

The Mountain Lions will be one of five games on the RMAC schedule. Regis will host Colorado State Pueblo at 1 p.m., unbeaten Fort Lewis will host Colorado Mines at 1 p.m., Adams State will host New Mexico Highlands at 1 p.m., and Colorado Mesa will host Colorado Christian at 3 p.m., an hour after the Mountain Lions host the Roadrunners.
