UCCS (13-6, 8-3 RMAC) looks to defend their undefeated home record (8-0) this weekend as they host Fort Lewis (9-9, 5-5 RMAC) and Colorado Mesa (13-5, 7-3 RMAC).  The Mountain Lions have won four of their last five matches, and currently have the best home record since 2007 when the team finished the season 9-0.  

The current home winning streak for UCCS started at the Mountain Lion Invitational in early Sept., where the team went 4-0 in several non-conference games, including one against Fort Lewis. UCCS won that match 3-1(25-21, 17-25, 26-23, 25-6), and has won the previous seven matches against theSkyhawks dating back to Oct. 18, 2008. This conference match on Thursday will be a clash of the Kinzer Sisters, as senior middle blocker NikkiKinzer takes on her younger sister junior libero Jenna Kinzer.

Nikki Kinzer is the reigning RMAC player of the month and was named this week's RMAC defensive player of the week for the second time this season.  On Oct. 15, she also earned the honor of being nominated to the RMAC All-Academic First Team. Kinzer is currently 2nd all-time in UCCShistory for block assists, needing just 20 more to become first.  She recorded 20 block assists two weekends ago in two matches at the GalloglyEvents Center, so this feat is well within her grasp this during the upcoming home stand.

UCCS will follow their match on Thursday with Fort Lewis as they play Colorado Mesa on Friday night. The Mountain Lions fell to the Mavericks in their last meeting two seasons ago, but UCCS has a much different team since their last matchup.  The Mountain Lions only returned two starters from last year, and brought in six freshmen, who are all helping the Mountain Lions to their current 3rd place standing in the RMAC.
