Two final-minute goals turn loss into rout at Regis

DENVER - Jessica Escobedo scored her first career goal but that was the lone highlight for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs women's soccer team in a 4-1 loss to the Regis Rangers Friday afternoon at Regis Field.

Escobedo's unassisted goal came at the 20:21 mark and tied the match at one.

Heather Thomas scored two goals and Jordan Miller had a goal and two assists for Regis, which improved to 11-5, 8-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

Thomas' first goal came just 4:46 into the match when she knocked in a quick pass by Miller. Escobedo's goal sent the teams into halftime in a 1-all tie.

The Rangers finally snapped the tie in the 71st minute as Carter Cornett scored her 19th goal of the season by converting a Heidi Chandler pass.

Regis scored twice in the final minute. The first was Miller's 13th goal of the season on a pass from Holly Redmond. Miller assisted on the second, scored by Thomas with just 11 seconds remaining.

Amie Kern made a career-high 16 saves in the loss as UCCS dropped to 4-11-1, 2-8 in the RMAC. Holly Redmond made four saves in the win for the Rangers.
