The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs soccer team is in danger of watching its playoff hopes fade in the rear-view mirror.

The Mountain Lions lost their fourth straight match Friday, falling to the Metro State Roadrunners 1-0 at Auraria Field. Three of those four losses have had the same 1-nil score.

The Mountain Lions are now 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Realistically, a .500 conference mark will be needed to make the playoffs, meaning CU-Colorado Springs will likely need to go 5-2 against RMAC opponents the rest of the season.

In order to do that, the Mountain Lions need to find some offense. They've scored only five goals this season, each by a different player. Four of those five goals have come with CU-Colorado Springs trailing by two or more goals and pushing more players forward. The one and only time the Mountain Lions had a lead this season, they won.

As much as the offense has struggled, the defense has shone. In four of the six matches the Mountain Lions have played, one or fewer goals have been scored against them. Goalkeeper Chris Hovasse has posted a respectable 1.46 goals-against average. Of the eight goals he's allowed, two have been on penalty kicks and one was an own goal.

On Friday, Metro State's Antonio Porras scored on a Phillip Owen through pass in the ninth minute.

CU-Colorado Springs dominated the match late, holding the ball in the Metro State zone most of the final five minutes. Try as they might, though, the Mountain Lions were unable to answer.

They'll need to find that answer soon.
