COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced the student athletes who were selected for the organization's All-America teams Wednesday afternoon. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs boasts both middle infield athletes on the first team, with
Bryce Peterson earning the second base position, and
Trevor Dale manning the Shortstop spot. Both earn the first All-America honors of their career.
Bryce Peterson was on of the premier average hitters in the nation this spring, while also providing a power threat from the heart of the Mountain Lions order. Peterson checked in for a tie for second in all of Division II hard ball with 92 hits on the season, slashing at a .423 average, while adding 17 homers over 53 games, with 52 starts at second base. His first season in the middle of the diamond after moving from third base, Peterson was reliable as he compiled a .963 fielding percentage with 83 putouts, and 151 assists.
Trevor Dale enjoyed a breakout season at shortstop for the Mountain Lions, after reclaiming his spot from last season after he began the year at third base. Dale posed his biggest threat at the plate this season, as he checked in first in Division II (2
nd in all of NCAA baseball) with a program record 27 home runs, while being second in the country in slugging percentage with a .936 mark. The three time RMAC Player of the Week was also in the top ten in the country in Total Bases (3
rd, 175), and Triples (7
th, 6).
"I could not be more proud of Bryce at Trevor," shared UCCS Head Baseball Coach
Dave Hajek. "These two youn men came into the program last year and absolutely changed the culture and work ethic of our team immediately. It's always great to see hard work pay off, and this is what we are seeing now as these two are getting rewarded on a national level."
The selections mark the first All-Americans in the program since
Kit Wigington was named in 2022, with Peterson and Dale being just the second and third athletes to earn First Team selections in program history, with Jake Anderson (2021) being the first.
