THIS WEEK'S MATCHUP
- COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After earning a 75–65 home victory over No. 7 seed Fort Lewis College in Tuesday night's quarterfinal round, the No. 2 seed University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team has advanced to the semifinal round of the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament.
- The Mountain Lions will face No. 3 seed Adams State University on Friday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Grand Junction, Colo.
- Top-seeded Colorado Mesa University will host the tournament's final four teams March 6–7. The Mavericks will open semifinal action Friday at 5 p.m. against No. 5 seed Black Hills State University.
- UCCS and Adams State finished the regular season tied for second place in the RMAC standings with identical 15-5 conference records. The Mountain Lions earned the No. 2 seed after defeating the Grizzlies 72–63 in Colorado Springs last Thursday.

LAST TIME OUT
- UCCS secured a 75–65 quarterfinal win over Fort Lewis Tuesday night in Colorado Springs to advance to the semifinals.
- Fort Lewis opened the scoring with an early basket from Claudia Palacio before Amyah Moore Allen responded to tie the game and spark a 6–0 Mountain Lion run. After the Skyhawks cut the deficit to one with three straight free throws, a three-pointer from Jayla Jackson-Allen ignited a 10–0 run that gave UCCS an early double-digit advantage.
- The Skyhawks battled back in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to 25–13 before a layup from Ashten Martinez and a three-pointer from Natalie Guanella provided momentum for Fort Lewis. The teams traded baskets throughout the remainder of the half as UCCS carried a five-point lead into the break.
- The third quarter remained tightly contested, with the Skyhawks closing within three points before Breelyn Robinson knocked down a three-pointer to help UCCS maintain its lead.
- In the final quarter, both teams traded baskets and defensive stops, with neither side able to build more than a brief scoring run. UCCS sealed the victory at the free throw line in the closing seconds to advance to the RMAC semifinals.
- Moore Allen led the Mountain Lions with 21 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while Jackson-Allen and Ayianna Johnson each added 16 points.
- UCCS shot 49 percent from the field (24-of-49) and 23-of-28 from the free throw line.
NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS
- UCCS remained No. 6 in the final NCAA South Central Regional Rankings released Wednesday.
- The 64-team NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship field will be announced Sunday, March 9 at 8:30 p.m. (MT) on NCAA.com.

Moore Allen continues to lead the Mountain Lions, ranking:
- Third in the RMAC in scoring (20.4 ppg, ninth nationally)
- Second in field goals made (225)
- Third in steals (65)
- Fourth in blocks (33)
- Johnson has made an immediate impact in her first season at UCCS, shooting 54.4 percent from the field, second-best in the RMAC, while averaging 2.9 offensive rebounds per game.
- Breelyn Robinson leads the team with 36 three-pointers, while Rylie Ottmann owns a team-best 39.2 percent three-point percentage.
- Moore Allen and Ottmann have started all 29 games this season.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. ADAMS STATE
- UCCS holds a 29–20 all-time advantage over Adams State and has won two straight meetings, including three of the last four matchups.
- The teams last met in postseason play during the 2025 RMAC Tournament quarterfinals, when sixth-seed UCCS upset third-seed Adams State 63–60 in Alamosa. The Mountain Lions went on to win their first RMAC Tournament championship in program history.
SCOUTING ADAMS STATE
- Adams State enters the semifinal matchup with a 22–9 overall record (15–5 RMAC) and one of the top defensive backcourts in Division II.
- The defense is led by RMAC Defensive Player of the Year Elaina Watson, who leads the conference and ranks eighth nationally with 96 steals (3.10 per game).
- The Grizzlies also lead the RMAC in three-point defense (27.1 percent) and rank No. 17 nationally in turnover margin (+5.19).
- Offensively, Adams State is paced by:
- Kiiyani Anitielu – 16.4 points per game, 38.3 percent from three
- Taejhuan Hill – 14.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game
- Hill has recorded 11 double-doubles, ranking second in the RMAC.
- Rebounding has been a challenge for the Grizzlies, who rank 253rd nationally in rebound margin (-6.1).
SCOUTING COLORADO MESA
- Top-seeded Colorado Mesa enters the semifinals with a 31–1 overall record after finishing the RMAC regular season 20–0 and undefeated at home (13-0).
- The Mavericks swept UCCS in the regular season, winning 73–47 in Colorado Springs and 79–61 in Grand Junction.
- Colorado Mesa ranks among the nation's top teams in several categories:
- No. 3 nationally in scoring margin (+24.2)
- No. 4 in scoring defense (51.1 ppg allowed)
- No. 4 in field goal percentage defense (32.8 percent)
- No. 10 in assists per game (17.4)
- No. 11 in free throw percentage (79 percent)
- Leading the Mavericks is RMAC Player of the Year Olivia Reed Thyne, who averages 21.2 points and 11.1 rebounds per game while shooting 61.6 percent from the field.
- Colorado Mesa also receives strong production from Mason Rowland (17.7 ppg) and Mykaela Moore, who ranks among the conference leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio.
SCOUTING BLACK HILLS STATE
- Black Hills State advanced to the semifinals after defeating Western Colorado 77–62 in the quarterfinal round.
- The Yellow Jackets rank among the top rebounding teams in Division II:
- Fifth nationally in rebounds per game (44.39)
- Third nationally in rebound margin (+13.6)
- They also average 15.8 assists per game (26th nationally) and allow just 56.5 points per game (32nd nationally).
- Guard Bradie Schlabs leads the RMAC with 5.5 assists per game.
UCCS UNDER HEAD COACH MISTY WILSON
- In her third season leading the program, head coach Misty Wilson owns a 62–29 record at UCCS and has guided the Mountain Lions to three consecutive RMAC Tournament appearances.
- Last season, UCCS captured the RMAC Tournament Championship, defeating top-seeded Colorado Mesa 63–61 to earn its first conference tournament title in program history.
