PUEBLO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team opened day one of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational on Friday afternoon with a handful of men's and women's triple jumpers competing for the first time this outdoor season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions had each of their six competing student-athletes in the men's triple jump qualify for the final in the event with freshman Jason Lomosi leading the pack in third place overall with a mark of 14.31m in his collegiate outdoor debut. Redshirt sophomore Josiah Billington posted a mark of 14.08m to secure a fourth-place finish, while sophomore Realiti Smith took fifth place with a mark of 13.97m and freshman Kuron Reed placed sixth overall with a leap of 13.76m. Redshirt junior KJ McInnis and senior Willie Tran rounded out the finishers for UCCS as McInnis finished eighth overall with a jump of 13.47m and Tran claimed ninth overall with a mark of 13.39m.
- UCCS had five student-athletes competing in the 12-person field for the women's triple jump with freshman Jillian Hennessy pacing the group in third place with a leap of 11.47m. Redshirt senior Chelsea Howard posted a personal best mark of 11.39m for a fifth-place finish with junior Brielle Bracken right on her tail in sixth place with a leap of 11.33m. Freshman Tristyn Buss finished seventh overall with a mark of 11.12m in her outdoor debut, while sophomore Sophia Bowser notched a jump of 10.55m for a ninth-place finish.

- The Mountain Lions will have their full squad in action tomorrow for day two of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational, which will kick off at 8 a.m. with the women's 10,000m race.
