HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Amyah Moore Allen won the opening tip at center court, and Rylie Ottmann followed with an offensive rebound that led to a left-wing three from Jayla Jackson-Allen. On UCCS' next possession, Ottmann delivered a slick bounce pass to Jackson-Allen on a backdoor cut to give the Mountain Lions an early 5–0 lead. After CSU Pueblo answered with two straight baskets, Ottmann went 1-for-2 at the free-throw line before Moore Allen helped UCCS break the press to extend the lead to 8–4. The ThunderWolves responded behind a three-pointer from Seneya Martinez, sparking an 8–0 run that put CSU Pueblo ahead 15–8 with 3:04 remaining in the first quarter. The Pack carried that momentum into the end of the period, holding a 20–11 advantage after 10 minutes.
  • UCCS opened the second quarter with a push, trimming the nine-point deficit with a 7–0 run capped by a deep three from Breelyn Robinson and consecutive layups by Ottmann and Brynae Stewart to make it 20–18. CSU Pueblo quickly answered with a 10–0 run, fueled by back-to-back three-pointers, to stretch the lead to 30–18. Moore Allen halted the surge with a layup as part of her four second-quarter points, but another long-range three from Martinez with :04 on the clock sent the ThunderWolves into halftime with a 40–24 lead.
  • The Mountain Lions came out of halftime determined to chip away at their 16-point deficit. With possession to start the third quarter, Moore Allen converted a scoop layup, then picked off a pass on the ensuing trip and went coast-to-coast for an and-one. On UCCS' third straight possession, Brynae Stewart added a layup, Moore Allen followed with a free throw, and Jackson-Allen scored four consecutive points to cap a 12–0 run that pulled the Mountain Lions within four, 40–36, less than three minutes into the quarter. UCCS' offense stalled from there, managing just one more point in the period, while CSU Pueblo closed on a 9–0 run to take a 58–41 lead into the fourth.
  • The ThunderWolves kept their momentum to open the final stanza, knocking down back-to-back three-pointers to extend the run to 15–0. Moore Allen stopped the surge with a pair of free throws for UCCS' first points of the quarter. Trailing by 23, she later finished through traffic on a driving layup to trim the deficit to 21, 67–46, with 5:53 remaining, prompting a UCCS timeout. A three from Seneya Martinez pushed the lead back to 24, but the Mountain Lions refused to fold. Moore Allen scored eight of UCCS' 15 points during a 15–0 rally that cut the deficit to seven, 74–67. CSU Pueblo answered down the stretch, however, securing the 79–68 win.
