Mountain Lions Receive No. 7 Seed in NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball tournament field was announced Sunday evening, and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team is the No. 7 seed in the South Central Region.  The Mountain Lions will face No. 2 seed Lubbock Christian University on Friday, March 14. 
 
Texas Woman's University is the No. 1 seed and will host the eight-team tournament in Denton, Texas.  All four quarterfinal games will be played on Friday, March 14, followed by the semifinal games on Saturday.  The regional championship game will be played on Monday, March 17, with the regional champion advancing to the Elite Eight in Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
The Mountain Lions (19-11, 12-8 RMAC), who are making their fourth NCAA tournament appearance in program history, automatically qualified for the NCAA Tournament after winning their second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament championship.  UCCS opened the week with a 63-60 win at No. 3 seed Adams State University in Alamosa, Colo.  The Mountain Lions then took down No. 2 Western Colorado University on Friday night in the semifinal game from Grand Junction, Colo., 69-55.  UCCS overcame a double-digit deficit last night at No. 1 seed Colorado Mesa University, 63-61, earning the second tournament championship title in program history (2017).
 
The Mountain Lions will take on the No. 2 seed Lubbock Christian University Chaps.  LCU won the Lone Star Conference and the LSC West Division.  The Chaps enter the NCAA Tournament with a 29-4 overall record and a 21-1 mark in conference games.  The second seed in the LSC tournament, Lubbock Christian, fell to No. 1 seed TWU Sunday afternoon in overtime, 73-66, in their conference tournament championship game.
