COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team has been picked to finish third in the 2026-27 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the league announced Thursday with the release of its preseason coaches' poll. The Mountain Lions received 157 points in the poll, including two first-place votes, four second-place votes and two third-place votes.
UCCS finished behind defending RMAC regular season and tournament champion Colorado Mesa University, which received 192 points, and Metropolitan State University of Denver, which was selected second with 166 points.
The RMAC Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll is voted on by the league's 15 head women's basketball coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. RMAC's preseason teams are determined by placing returning players in order of head coaches' voting from the league's 2025-26 All-RMAC Teams.
The Mountain Lions enters the 2026-27 season after finishing tied for second in the RMAC regular-season standings last season. The Mountain Lions advanced to the RMAC Tournament championship game before falling to Colorado Mesa to finish as the tournament runner-up, before qualifying as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament and advancing to the semifinal round.
Head coach
Misty Wilson returns for her fourth season at the helm of the Mountain Lions, who will feature a largely new roster in 2026-27. UCCS has 10 newcomers on this year's roster, including seven transfers.
Senior guard

Brynae Stewart and senior guard
Olivia Towns are the team's three returning players. Wilson appeared in all 33 games last season and averaged 24.1 minutes and 4.5 points per game. Stewart started 17 of 32 games she played in last season, averaging 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Towns appeared in four games in the 2025-26 campaign, totaling six points and six rebounds.
Colorado Mesa was selected first in the preseason poll after receiving 11 first-place votes, while MSU Denver received the other first-place vote. Black Hills State University was selected fourth with 155 points, just two points behind UCCS, followed by Fort Lewis College with 143 points.
