HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UCCS' senior day game started with an 11-7 Mountain Lion lead after back-to-back baskets from Maison White. The Rangers halted UCCS' momentum, though, going on an 18-5 run with an array of tough jumpers. Breelyn Robinson hit a three-pointer with 10 seconds to stop the bleeding, but Regis entered the fourth quarter with a 25-19 lead.
  • The Mountain Lions' offensive struggles continued into the second quarter, as the Rangers went on an 11-2 run in the first six and a half minutes of the frame. Ellen Silva and Gia Bradley helped UCCS get back on track to end the first half, as the Mountain Lions closed the quarter on a 10-3 run to lessen their deficit to eight (39-31). UCCS was held to shooting 36.4 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from beyond the arc in the first half.
  • Amyah Moore Allen and the Mountain Lions came out on a mission to open the second half, going on an 18-9 run in a four-and-a-half-minute stretch, with Moore Allen scoring 10 points herself to take a 49-48 lead. The Rangers took over from there, scoring the following 15 points unanswered. Gia Bradley got UCCS back on the board with a three-pointer, but Regis would lead 65-52 going into the fourth quarter.
  • The Rangers stayed hot and grew their lead to 20 (79-59) with 5:26 left in the game. UCCS finished the final five minutes on a 10-7 run, but the Rangers' built-in cushion from the third quarter was too much for the Mountain Lions to overcome, resulting in an 86-69 loss.
