HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions got the scoring started just fourteen seconds into the game at the foul line with Brody Hull hitting both free throws. UCCS then wouldn't look back as they built a dominant lead through out the first half of play. The Swedes didn't test the Mountain Lions interior defense almost at all during the first half as the visitors had 34 field goal attempts in the first 20 minutes, with 20 of those shots being from three point range. Only seven of those threes would fall, as UCCS clipped along at a 65% rate from the field including three triples during the first. Xavier Martinez led the Mountain Lions with 12 points in the first half, with Mario Williams Jr. following just behind with 10.
- The second half started with a pair of Swede buckets on back to back Mountain Lion turnovers, as the Swedes came out of the intermission with energy. After the pair of layups, the teams traded points for the rest of the game, with Bethany narrowly outscoring UCCS 45-42 over the final 18:57 of play. The Mountain Lions regressed offensively, as they only shot 44.2% in the second half, as the Swedes almost doubled their shooting average going from 38% in the first to 60% in the second. The Mountain Lions lead was much too wide, however, as UCCS coasted to the 103-83 win Friday night.
