HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Mountain Lions added an early score to the board when Junior Midfielder Taylynn Levi converted a penalty kick in the 6th minute to give UCCS an early 1-0 advantage. Just minutes later, the match took a dramatic turn as MSU Denver goalkeeper Kayla Caballero was issued a red card in the 11th minute, forcing the Roadrunners to play their substitute, Kylie Hyde.

  • UCCS regained control late in the first half when MSU's goalkeeper Kylie Hyde deflected a shot by the Mountain Lions, and Sophomore forward Brooke Pavlich fired it into the net off the deflection in the 37th minute to restore the Mountain Lions' lead heading into halftime, 2-1.
  • In the second half, the Mountain Lions took full command of the match, outshooting the Roadrunners 9-0. Sophomore Midfielder Mikaela Carlson added to the lead in the 63rd minute with a strike from close range, followed by Casey Tadlock's goal in the 83rd minute to seal the 4-1 victory for UCCS.
