COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team bounces back with a 2-0 victory Thursday evening over the Saint Mary's University Rattlers.

All-Time Series: Thursday evening's matchup against the Rattlers was the third in UCCS program history, UCCS is 2-0-1 in the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Thursday night's matchup against Saint Mary's started slow with no score in the first half. The Mountain Lions led in shots with six and two on goal to the Rattlers' two and one.
- The second period started fast for the Mountain Lions with a goal by senior midfielder Fie Steenberg into the top right of the opponent's goal off of an assist by junior Emily Aguilar just four minutes in. This was Steenberg's second shot on goal after recording one in the first half.
- The Mountain Lions expanded upon their one-goal lead in the 61st minute when junior forward Jessica Rockwell also sent a ball into the top right of the Rattlers' net off the assist of Steenberg, logging her first goal of the young season.
- There was a flurry of shots in the 81st and 82nd minutes taken by the Rattlers as freshman goalkeeper Alexa Malaspina made three consecutive saves to keep the shutout alive for the Mountain Lions.
- UCCS continued to apply pressure toward the end of the game with two shots on goal in the 84th and 85th minutes that were both saved by the Rattlers' goalkeeper Rebecca Difronzo.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- The Mountain Lions outshot the Rattlers 16 to 11 with eight shots on goal to St. Mary's six. St. Mary's led the game in corner kicks with five to UCCS' four.
- Steenberg and Rockwell were the only Mountain Lions who recorded goals as both scored their first of the season. Seven other UCCS players took shots as well, as sophomore midfielder Taylynn Levi recorded three with one on goal.
- Five UCCS players logged the full 90 minutes on the pitch during Thursday's match as Casey Tadlock, Levi, Steenberg, Elise Broberg, and Mattea Morris all played the full game.
- Malaspina also logged the entire 90 minutes with a perfect six saves out of six total shots on frame marking her first career clean sheet.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- UCCS moves to 2-0-1 all-time against St. Mary's after their Thursday night victory.
- Thursday's win was the second in a row for UCCS against St. Mary's, dating back to their NCAA tournament win in 2023.
- Jessica Rockwell's goal in the 61st minute was the seventh goal of her UCCS career and her first of the season.
