CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Department of Athletics earned 384.75 points in the 2023-24 Learfield Directors' Cup Division II final standings, placing them 41
st overall in Division II.
The
Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the 2023-24 NCAA Fall, Winter and Spring.
UCCS received 37.5 points from the women's outdoor track and field program that put on a strong showing at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field championships after finishing 34
th overall. The men's track & field team chipped in 19 points toward the Learfield Directors' Cup standings with their 52
nd place finish.
The Mountain Lions' 56.5 points during the spring season was added on top of the 110.75 points gathered during the winter season, and 217.5 points from the fall championship season.
After posting a 14
th place finish at the NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships, UCCS collected 60.75 points toward the standings. The Mountain Lions women's track and field program added 50 points behind a 22
nd place finish at the championship meet, bringing the winter championships total to 110.75 points.
The UCCS women's soccer team logged one of their most historic seasons in program history and earned 73 points toward the Learfield standings in the process. The Mountain Lions claimed their fourth regular season conference title in the past five years and surged through the NCAA Division II women's soccer tournament as they made an impressive run to the Division II Quarterfinals. Earning the second most points for the Mountain Lions this fall was the women's cross country program. UCCS hoarded 64.5 points in the standings with a 12
th place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships The UCCS men's cross country team amassed 55 points in the Learfield standings after earning a 19
th place finish at the NCAA National Championship meet on Nov. 18. And, for the first time ever in department history, the Mountain Lions men's soccer program qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Despite a setback in the NCAA First Round, UCCS merited 25 points in the standings with a 33
rd place team finish.
For the 16
th time in the Learfield Directors' Cup history, Grand Valley State University will take home the hardware after compiling 983.00 total points in 20 total sports, including three of the four sports that must be counted. The Lakers took home the title in women's cross country and tallied a runner-up finish in men's indoor track and field. Due to scoring in the max number of 11 additional sports being counted, the following scores were omitted in the final total – wrestling, women's swimming and diving, women's lacrosse, softball, women's tennis and men's tennis
