Women’s Basketball Ranked No. 9 in NCAA Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball South Central Rankings, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team is ranked No. 9 overall, announced Wednesday afternoon.  In last week's first rankings of the season, UCCS was one of 10 teams listed under consideration to qualify for the NCAA Division II post-season tournament, beginning March 16.
 
The 64-team NCAA postseason tournament is comprised of eight teams from each of the eight Division II regions.  The South Central Region is made up of 15 teams from the RMAC and 16 teams from the Lone Star Conference. UCCS is one of six schools from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference ranked in the top 10: No. 2 Colorado Mesa University, No. 3 Regis University, No. 4, Colorado School of Mines, No. 8 Adams State University, No. 9 UCCS and No. 10 Colorado Christian University 
 
The last regular season rankings will be released next Wednesday on March 6.  The final bracket will be announced on the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 10 at 8:30 p.m. (MT) on www.ncaa.com.  
 
The Mountain Lions head into the final weekend of the regular season in a three-way tie for second place with Adams State and Regis with each team owning a 16-4 record in league games and a half-game back of Colorado Mesa..  UCCS will close the regular season at home on Friday, March 1 against Colorado State University Pueblo and Saturday, March 2 against New Mexico Highlands University.  Both games will tip-off at 5 p.m. inside Gallogly Events Center.
