COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team let it fly from deep, making a season-high 13 three-pointers and shooting 41.9 percent from beyond the arc en route to their dominant 70-41 victory over the University of Texas-Permian Basin.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions started the scoring immediately as Amyah Moore-Allen opened UCCS' three-point onslaught with a three-ball on the first possession. Ellie Reynolds then caught fire, hitting back-to-back treys to give the Mountain Lions a 15-6 lead. A Maison White lay-in and a Mya Wilson three-pointer closed the quarter with UCCS up 20-9. The Mountain Lions three-point shooting got them off to a hot start, but their defense was crucial, holding UTPB to shooting 4-for-17 in the first quarter.
- UTPB caught up to open the second frame, going on a 6-2 run in the first three and a half minutes, making the score 22-15. That's when the three-point shooting returned, as Emily Vidal, Gia Bradley, Reynolds, and Breelyn Robinson all nailed shots from beyond the arc. This three-point barrage sparked UCCS to a 15-4 run to end the first half, taking a 37-19 lead into the intermission.
- The Mountain Lions pressed on the gas further in the third, going on a 10-2 run with three-pointers from Moore Allen and Bradley and four points from White. The Falcons responded on an 8-2 run in a three-minute stretch, but UCCS led by 24 (53-29) to enter the fourth quarter. Holding their opponent to just 29 points in the first three quarters, the Mountain Lions excelled again defensively in the third, only allowing 10 points from UTPB on just 4-of-16 shooting from the field in the frame.
- To open the first six minutes of the fourth quarter, UCCS went on a 15-6 run, which included Bradley hitting three three-pointers. At the 3:17 mark in the fourth, the Mountain Lions had a 33-point lead (the largest lead of the game). UCCS finished the game strong and went on to win 70-41.
GAME STATISTICS
- Gia Bradley was on fire today, leading the Mountain Lions in scoring with 15 points. Her baskets all came on three-pointers, as she went 5-7 from deep. Along with her impressive shooting, Bradley also recorded one rebound, one assist, and one block.
- Maison White's performance saw her record a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field while going 5-of-8 from the free-throw line. White also added two assists, two blocks, and two steals.
- Amyah Moore-Allen did a bit of everything today, scoring 12 points, dishing out five assists, grabbing three rebounds, swiping two steals, and tallying a block. Her impressive all-around performance also saw her shoot 5-of-7 from the field, including 2-of-3 from deep.
- Ellie Reynolds aided UCCS in their hot shooting, going 3-of-4 from deep. Reynolds finished with nine points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
- UCCS shared the rock generously today, collecting 18 assists as a team compared to five from UTPB. Mountain Lions who tallied multiple assists include Moore-Allen (five), Emily Vidal (three), Reynolds, White, and Rylie Ottmann, each of whom had two.
- The Mountain Lions led for nearly all 40 minutes of today's game, thanks to their hot shooting and lockdown defense.
- UCCS' defense was forceful and relentless, forcing the Falcons to shoot just 28.8 percent (17-59) from the field and 10.5 percent (2-19) on three-pointers. The Mountain Lions forced 12 turnovers, collected seven steals, and blocked eight shots today.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Gia Bradley had a career day in several statistics today, including points (15), field goals made (five), field goal attempts (nine), and three-pointers made (five). In 11 games played, Bradley is shooting 40.9 percent from beyond the arc, leading all UCCS shooters.
- Ellie Reynolds recorded a personal UCCS career high in three-pointers made with her three made today.
- Amyah Moore-Allen's five assists today tie her career high, as she also had five assists on Nov. 11, 2023, against Baptist Bible College.
- The Mountain Lions' holding UTPB to 41 points marked the lowest number of points allowed by UCCS all season. Entering the game, the Falcons averaged 70.8 points per game in 10 contests.
- UTPB's leading scorer, Taysha Rushton, entered the game averaging 17.8 points per game but was held to four points on 2-of-11 shooting from the field.
- The Mountain Lions' three-point shooting reached a season-high in Thursday afternoon's win, with 13 makes and 31 attempts from beyond the arc.
- UCCS has won six of their last seven games and will enter the new year on a three-game winning streak.
