Fauske, Hedlund Receive USTFCCCA All-America Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs duo of Anna Fauske and Kate Hedlund were named to the 2024 United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women's Cross Country All-America Team, announced Monday by the organization.
 
Student-athletes from member institutions earned USTFCCCA All-America honors by finishing among the top-40 at Saturday's NCAA Division II National Championship meet, held in Sacramento, Calif.
 
Fauske collected her third consecutive All-America nod and her second straight top-10 finish when she cross the finish line in ninth place with a time of 20:43.8, marking her second fastest time at the NCAA Division II championship meet. She joins Shannon Payne as the only Mountain Lion to earn at least three All-America nods in program history.  Payne was a four-time All-American from 2004-08.
 
Hedlund's time of 21:23.7 Saturday afternoon placed her in 36th place overall.  The graduate student, who is one of four Mountain Lions to compete in four national championship meets (Fauske, Payne, Kayla Wooten) is the sixth student-athlete at UCCS to receive multiple All-America cross country honors.
 
As a team, the Mountain Lions scored 266 points to finish seventh overall out of 34 teams.  The seventh place finish is UCCS' third top-10 finish in the last four years at the national championship meet.
