CANYON, Texas – Playing in their first road game of the season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team suffered a 73-49 loss at West Texas A&M University Thursday morning. The loss moves UCCS to 1-1 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Texas A&M came out firing in the first quarter, draining six three-pointers. Claire Graham started the shooting spree with a trey for the first points of the game before Amyah Moore Allen knotted the game with her own three-pointer. Graham answered with her second straight three-pointer but a driving layup from Moore Allen brought UCCS back within one point, 6-5. The Buffs would then sink three straight three-pointers to enlarge their lead to 10, 15-5. Amaya Snowden stopped the 9-0 run with a hook shot before Krystina Hagood added a bucket to cut into WT's lead, 15-9, but the home team finished the opening stanza on a 7-0 run and a 22-9 lead.
- Early fouls by the Mountain Lions in the second quarter put Kylan Kane to the line where she made all four of her free throw attempts. The Mountain Lions found some offense in the early minutes and Jayla Jackson-Allen made a layup and Rylie Ottman hit her second free throw attempt. Mya Wilson and Maison White both added buckets with 6:58 left in the second quarter, bringing UCCS' deficit down to 12 points, 28-16. West Texas A&M again ended the quarter with a 7-0 run, pushing their lead to 38-18 after one half of action.
- In the third quarter, the Mountain Lions nearly scored as many points in the third quarter (16) than the first half (18) as White made both field goal attempts while Ottmann and Emily Vidal were successful in each hitting a three-pointer. The Buffs kept their advantage over UCCS in the second half, outscoring the points, 35-31, as the home team secured a 73-49 win.
GAME STATISTICS
- White posted her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds after a solid 7-of-9 shooting performance from the floor.
- Moore Allen connected on 4-of-13 field goals and netted 4-of-5 from the free throw line as part of her 13 points.
- As a team, UCCS shot 30.2 percent from the floor (19-of-36), 11.5 percent from behind the arc (3-of-26), and sank 8-of-13 free throws for 61.5 percent.
- Graham led four players in double figures with 16 points.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- White's 15 points and seven made field goals this morning are season highs for the Mountain Lions.
- Ellie Reynolds and Gia Bradley set new career highs in rebounds, pulling down four and three, respectively.
- White moves to eighth all-time in scoring (1,027 points) and is 62 rebounds behind Brittany Hernandez' all-time record of 751.
