Records: UCCS (7-7-2, 5-5-0 RMAC), NMHU (2-12-2, 0-9-1 RMAC)
Facility: Mountain Lion Stadium | Colorado Springs, Colo.
All-Time Series: The Mountain Lions hold a 15-6 advantage in the 21 contests between the two programs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Mountain Lions started quickly, driving down the field and earning a corner kick after a Brooke Pavlich shot was deflected out of play. On the ensuing corner kick, Fie Steenberg floated her chance right at NMHU's keeper Peyton Greener who tried to punch it out, but instead redirected it into the net giving UCCS the 1-0 lead and Steenberg her third goal of the year.
  • In the 23rd minute Cylee Acosta of NMHU pulled down Pavlich in the box to give UCCS a penalty kick and a golden opportunity to double their lead. As Steenberg stepped to the penalty dot, she did exactly that as she deposited her shot inside the near post, securing her brace inside of 30 minutes.
  • Despite UCCS outshooting the Cowgirls by more than double at 16-7, the Mountain Lions only found the net twice to hold the 2-0 advantage at the break.
  • The Mountain Lions took a bit longer to get going in the second half, but continued their scoring in the 64th minute with Taylynn Levi feeding Amelia McManus for her third goal of the season and UCCS' third goal of the game.
  • Two minutes later, it was Levi who did it herself after a beautiful touch pass from Luka Johnson. With the score then favoring UCCS 4-0, the Mountain Lions had a strangle hold on the pitch.
  • In the 74th minute, the Mountain Lions added to their total, this time it was Johnson who drove down the field and sliced thoroughly through the Cowgirls defense all alone and finishing. For Johnson, the strike was her fifth of the season, the most on the team.
  • With Luka Johnson taking the solo team lead, Emily Aguilar felt her number called, tying Johnson with her fifth of the season just nine minutes later to push the lead to 6-0 for UCCS in the 83rd minute.
  • The match would tick out with the same score, with UCCS easily dispatching the Cowgirls 6-0.
