DENVER, Colo. – Facing Colorado State University Pueblo in a neutral site, non-conference match Friday evening, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team suffered their second straight sweep. Friday's match was hosted by Regis University in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Regional Pod.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Julia Geiger accounted for three of the Mountain Lions first four points in the opening set to give UCCS a 4-2 advantage before the ThunderWolves rattled off five straight points to take a 7-4 lead they would not relinquish. The Mountain Lions forced an attack error 10 rallies later to get within one point of CSUP, 11-10, but the blue and red squad kept UCCS from regaining the lead as CSUP took set one, 25-18.
- The ThunderWolves came out roaring in the second set, fetching a 17-1 lead over the Mountain Lions before Geiger and Raegen Emery blocked an attack to stop the 14-0 run. UCCS was held to five kills on 35 attempts in the 25-7 setback.
- UCCS opened the third set similar to set one, snagging a 4-2 lead but a 14-4 run by the ThunderWolves gave them a 10-point lead, 16-8. CSUP sealed the win scoring the final three points to hold UCCS from making a comeback, 25-16.
MATCH STATISTICS
- Geiger was nearly errorless on 12 attempts, putting down seven kills and only error for a .500 hitting mark. She added an ace, one dig and a block assist.
- Nicole Medlin and Lauryn Shockley each notched five kills at the net. Medlin added two block assists as Shockley tied Mackenzie Ransom with a team high five digs.
- Twenty-one of the Mountain Lions' 22 assists came from Joei Barela who added two kills and two digs.
- UCCS finished the match with 24 kills, a .057 attack percentage, 22 assists, three aces, three blocks and 21 digs.
- The Pack hit .455 at the net behind 44 kills. Kendall Harrington and Payton Van Veen led both teams with 13 kills apiece.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Both Thursday's night match at No. 13 Regis and tonight's match against CSU Pueblo are part of a new RMAC scheduling format. The three teams each play each other in non-conference action as part of the RMAC Regional Pod.
- Senior outside hitter Lauryn Shockley has now tied Nikki Kinzer for the 10th most points scored in program history with 1,170. Shockley also moved up to seventh place for the most matches played (114).
UP NEXT
- The Mountain Lions return home Oct. 6-7 when they play host to Chadron State College and Colorado Christian University, respectively.
