COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team returned to the Gallogly Events Center, as they took on the Chadron State College Eagles in an RMAC matchup. The visiting Eagles capitalized on the Mountain Lion's timely mistakes, handing UCCS their first conference loss of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS. CHADRON STATE
- Maylen Mitrovich instantly made an impact in her return to the starting lineup, as she assisted Lauryn Shockley on a thunderous kill to open Friday night's match. The first set remained tight, as both teams jostled for position during the opening 14 rallies. Following an ace from Joei Barela, the Eagles went on an 8-1 run, forcing a UCCS timeout. While the Mountain Lions battled late in the set, it wasn't enough, as Chadron State took the initial set, 19-25.
- Once again, a Shockley kill set up by Mitrovich got the scoring started, as the home team raced out to a 5-1 lead. Kills from Sydnee Walker and Nicole Medlin kept momentum on the Mountain Lion's side. Chadron would go on another run, scoring six unanswered points, giving the visiting Eagles a 13-10 lead that they would not surrender. While UCCS hit a match-high .333 with 17 kills, they would still fall in the second set, now facing a two sets to none deficit.
- A Raegen Emery kill followed by a Shockley ace gave the Mountain Lions a quick 2-0 advantage in the third set. With UCCS now up four, Walker served up an ace of her own, prompting an early Chadron State timeout. The Eagles, as they did all night, put together a run late in the set, this time, mounting a 6-0 run to take the lead. UCCS mustered some late rallies, but couldn't get over the hump, falling to the Eagles in straight sets.
MATCH STATISTICS VS. CHADRON STATE
- Emery led the team with 13 kills, hitting at an impressive .476 clip. Shockley added nine kills, with Walker chipping in eight kills of her own.
- Mitrovich assisted on 23 Mountain Lion points, adding one kill and digging up six Eagle's attacks. Barela contributed 12 assists to go with six digs and one ace.
- Walker led the match with three aces, as the freshman also dug up a team-high 11 attacks.
- The Mountain Lions hit .236 for the match, tallying seven aces and 44 kills.
- Chadron State was led by Mayson Fago, as she recorded a match-high 15 kills along with a solo block. The Eagles hit .355 as a team, with 36 assists on 41 kills.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Emery's 13 kills are a team-high for the season in a three-set match.
- As a team, the Mountain Lions produced their second most kills (44), assists (40), and digs (38) in a three-set match this season.
- Shockley needs to play in one more set in order to break into the top 10 in all-time sets played in program history.
