COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Oklahoma University men's soccer teams each scored early in the first half, but neither team managed to find the net the rest of the battle as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

- All-Time Series: This was the first matchup between the Mountain Lions and Eagles with the first battle ending in a tie.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match started in favor of Oklahoma Christian as in the 13th minute, Elliot Forestier of OCU sent a corner kick to the right side of the goal perfectly set up for Ellis Jones to head it into the left side of the goal, just sneaking it past the goalkeeper, Soren Russell.
- UCCS had a quick response as four minutes later Marvin Putu made a pass to set Alex Andersson up on the right side of the field as he sent a strike from his right foot getting past the goalkeeper, finding the back of the left side of the goal.
- Both teams would trade shots against one another but neither team would budge and in result the game would be tied going into halftime.
- The second half saw both teams trading blows but nothing to show for it. In the hard fought second half, each team had many chances to break the tie. The Eagles were close to scoring on a corner kick in the 66th minute but Russell made an incredible save as reached his right arm out as far as he could to tip the ball up and over the crossbar.
- The Mountain Lions best chance to take the lead came late in the 76th minute as Kolby Raineri got past a few defenders, striking the ball with his left foot, bouncing off the goalkeeper and was slowly rolling on its way in on the right side of the goal until an Eagles defender got there in time to kick it out.
- The game remained in a stalemate the rest of the way as neither team could overcome the other, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
GAME STATISTICS
- UCCS outshot OCU 18-10 and had more shots on goal (7-5). The two teams matched each other with eight corner kicks.
- Andersson notched his fourth goal of the season while Putu picked up his third assist of the campaign.
- Both goalkeepers had four saves, but OCU had two team saves.
- Raineri led the team in shots with three and shots on goal with two. Noah Espino-Kennedy, Nic Grotle, Andersson, Lars Walczyk, and Cole Van Holland all had two shots as well.
- Van Holland, Raineri, Putu, and Russell played the full 90 minutes in tonight's contest.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Today's draw means this is the first time in program history that the team has been unbeaten in their first five games of the season.
- This is the second straight 1-1 draw for UCCS after tying with St. Mary's University on September 9th with the same score.

- The UCCS men's soccer team will go up against No. 13 Rogers State University next on September 16th. The top 15 matchup is set to kickoff at 1 p.m. at Mountain Lion Stadium.
