COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team was the beneficiary of a strong performance from senior
Kolby Raineri on Wednesday evening at Mountain Lion Stadium as the Iowa native recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Mountain Lions to a 3-1 victory over Lubbock Christian University.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: UCCS 3, LCU 1
Records: UCCS (3-1-1, 0-0-0 RMAC), LCU (2-2-1, 0-0-0 LSC)
Facility: Mountain Lion Stadium | Colorado Springs, Colo.
All-Time Series: The Mountain Lions improve to 3-1 all-time against the Chaparrals.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mountain Lions got on the board in the 15th minute with the benefit of some good fortune on an unassisted goal by Kolby Raineri. After gaining possession of the ball, LCU goalkeeper Connor Pettigrew flipped it out in front of himself in preparation to kick it deep, but Raineri was in the right place at the right time and went on to take the ball towards a wide-open net for an uncontested goal and an early 1-0 advantage.
- UCCS extended their lead to 2-0 in the 27th minute when graduate student Marvin Putu received a cross from the left side of the pitch from Raineri and buried it in the back of the net.
- Trailing by a pair of goals at the halfway mark, the Chaps came out of the locker room with increased intensity and managed to quickly cut the Mountain Lion's lead to 2-1 as Eduardo Forte found Jordan Jayapuram for a score less than two minutes into the period.
- Less than ten minutes later, UCCS regained their multi-goal lead as Komil Khatamov found Raineri in the 56th minute for his second goal of the game. The Mountain Lion defense would hold tight for the remainder of the match to lock down a 3-1 victory.
STATS FROM THE GAME:
- Raineri finished the evening with a total of five points as he scored two goals and assisted on another.
- Putu was the other goal scorer for the Mountain Lions, recording his first of the season and first while wearing the black and gold. Khatamov also recorded one point on his first assist of the season.

- Raineri was the team leader with four shots and three shots on goal, while Putu tallied two shots in the match.
- In frame, Declan Domyan earned his third win of the season as he recorded three saves in just over 78 minutes of action before leaving the game with an injury. Frankie Turnbull made his first appearance of the season in relief of Domyan, recording 11 minutes of shutout play.
