KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Coming off a dominant opening weekend in Texas, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team moved up six spots for a No. 12 ranking in the Week 1 United Soccer Coaches National Poll on Tuesday afternoon.

Defending National Champion Midwestern State University remained on top of the national poll after a perfect 2-0 start to the season. The Mountain Lions were joined inside the top 25 by one institution from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, with Regis University landing at No. 20 after upsetting then-No. 3 Fort Hays State University over the weekend. Fort Lewis College also received votes in the Week 1 poll.

The Mountain Lions opened the 2026 campaign with a dominant showing in the Lone Star State, defeating Sul Ross State University 8-0 before taking down St. Mary's University by a score of 3-0. The Mountain Lions had eight different goalscorers over the weekend, led by freshman midfielder Toby Benitez with three goals in his first two collegiate matches. On the defensive side, the Mountain Lions recorded a pair of clean sheet efforts with senior goalkeeper Hugo Sjöberg playing all 180 minutes and collecting seven saves over the weekend.
